How to Remove a Snap-In Center Cap (Front Extraction)

Step 1: Park on a level surface. Engage the parking brake.

Step 2: Clean around the cap’s perimeter. Brake dust and grit act like sandpaper against your wheel during removal. Wipe it down first.

Step 3: Locate the extraction notch — it’s a small gap around the outer rim of the cap. If there’s no notch, switch to the suction cup or tape method.

Step 4: Insert your plastic trim tool into the notch at a shallow angle. Apply gentle outward pressure. Don’t crank hard in one spot.

If your cap keeps falling off, either grind down the rear standoffs so the cap sits deeper, add a small dab of thread adhesive, or replace the cap entirely.

Tesla Model Y / Model 3

Tesla’s flush caps have no visible pry points. Clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol and use a suction cup for the cleanest removal.
